An Audi A5, which is no longer new, came to our studio, but despite its mileage, the car still has good potential for improving the audio system. The client’s wishes were to keep the standard head unit, keep the interior unchanged and, of course, good car audio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having discussed the options with the client, we decided to go with the classic one, which has a two-component front (a set of speakers consisting of a midbass and a tweeter, and in our case, instead of a tweeter, a broadband speaker) + a subwoofer. That is, the total number of speakers is 5 pieces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

System composition: two-band front consisting of wideband speakers Audison AP2 and woofers Audison AP8. Front acoustics are connected channel by channel from the processor amplifier Musway M4+. To fit into a certain budget, we chose a ready-made subwoofer + amplifier kit ALPINE SBG-30KIT, which is connected and controlled through the audio processor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Installing Speakers in Audi A5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As usual, a new audio system begins with audio preparation of the doors, which is one of the mandatory conditions for obtaining good sound. We make noise insulation of the doors in three layers without fail before installing the speakers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We fixed spacer rings for 20 cm midbass speakers. It is a big plus for Audi that 20 cm midbass speakers are installed in the front doors, this allows you to get a good, deep punch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the dashboard, under the windshield, tweeters are installed in the standard version, in a simpler installation we would also install tweeters in standard places, but since we will have a processor amplifier and a per-channel connection, we decided to install a wide-band speaker in the standard place, which will raise the stage and make a bright and harmonious sound in the midrange\/high-frequency range. We always recommend installing a wide-band speaker instead of a tweeter, if there is a convenient place for a wide-band speaker and the system is supposed to have a processor for filtering the signal and subsequent adjustment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Installing a Processor Amplifier in an Audi A5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The processor amplifier and monoblock were placed next to the standard radio module, making a practically standard multi-level installation. The Bluetooth Hi-Res module for transmitting the signal directly to the processor took its place here. On top is the Alpine monoblock for the subwoofer, then the Musway M4+ processor amplifier and the standard radio module below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Installing a Subwoofer for Audi A5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The task for the subwoofer was to get deep bass, but again – within a limited budget. We chose a good ready-made solution, the ALPINE SBG-30KIT kit consisting of a monoblock and a case subwoofer with a 30 cm speaker. This kit is one of the best of all available ready-made solutions available in Ukraine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The subwoofer was placed in the trunk. The size of the case is, of course, not small, but here you have to choose – either good car audio in the car or an empty trunk. True, you do not always have to sacrifice the volume of the trunk – there are different options for installing a subwoofer in a car<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sound source is the standard head unit and the Musway BTSHD BT interface for transmitting Hi-Res audio directly to the processor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When handing over the car, the client and I listened to the same tracks via the BT of the standard head unit and via the Musway BTSHD, and found out that there is a significant difference and this difference is very clearly audible, many details appear in the sound. We have noticed a similar phenomenon not only in Audi, but also in new BMW and Mercedes cars, the standard BT sounds worse than the external module connected directly to the audio processor. To control the volume of the BT interface and switch sources, we installed the Musway DRC1 remote control. The subwoofer level is also adjusted from this remote control. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
