Android/CarPlay large screen car radio for Volvo XC70 2004
Cars that are already twenty years old rarely come to us. But this time, Volvo arrived – and this is exactly the kind of car that can serve as the faith and truth of a decade. And then why not make a small upgrade in the form of replacing the standard radio, which is very outdated, with a new device with a large screen and a decent list of functions.
The Volvo XC70 factory radio looks so harmonious in the interior, but no matter how beautiful it looks, the owner made a “sacrifice” and decided on a total replacement.
How to connect a car radio with a large Android/CarPlay screen in a 2004 Volvo XC70
As you can see in the photo below, we use standard connectors to connect a new car radio, and to install a new car radio, we use a 2DIN mounting place. Thus, we keep all the factory functions as much as possible, expanding them with new ones.
The difference between BEFORE and AFTER is not always so big! But in this case, it was possible to make a significant upgrade of the standard car sound. The owner of the Volvo XC70 received a large 9-inch screen, CarPlay and AndroidAuto, 2K RAM, GPS navigation, the ability to connect a rear-view camera (which was completely impossible before), the Internet appeared in the car, the ability to connect 4g, the ability to listen to streaming audio and speak by phone wirelessly connections

Installing a car stereo in a 2004 Volvo XC70 may have its own specific nuances. Here are more specific points that you should pay attention to:
- The size of the radio: the 2004 Volvo XC70 uses the standard DIN size for installing the radio – that’s what we used to install the new device.
- Wire connectors: In this model, specific connectors can be used. Often, the new radio comes with wires with factory connectors that ensure full compatibility.
- Audio system: If a system with an amplifier is installed in the Volvo XC70, an additional adapter may be required to connect it to maintain the functionality of the standard system. In our case, everything works.

- Compatibility issues: Some radios may not support all functions that were available in the original system, such as control through the car’s display. Make sure that the selected model provides the necessary functions.
- Work with factory speakers: in our case, all standard speakers sound great from the new radio.
