Mazda CX-5 2017+. Ready-made solutions for improving car audio.
Such cars as crossovers have become very popular in Ukraine, and Mazda CX-5 is no exception – there are quite a lot of them on the streets of Kyiv. And more than one such car has visited our studio. In this article, I would like to tell you about the options for improving car audio that we offer using the example of two Mazda CX-5 cars that visited our studio.

Most Mazda CX-5 cars, of course, have a basic (standard) audio system, but the factory acoustics allow you to listen to the radio more or less, but to listen to your favorite music so that you want to dance – no, the factory sound is not capable of that.
Here is a selection of our examples of work, where we always compare, among other things, the appearance of the speakers. Pay attention to the size of the magnets in the midbass, the size of the diffuser in the tweeters. It’s sad when you look at the standard speakers.
So, here are our options and recommendations for improving the sound of the audio system in the Mazda CX-5:
Step 1
Replacement of acoustics and noise and vibration insulation of doors without installing an external amplifier. For example, FOCAL ISU165 for the front and FOCAL ICU165 for the rear. The total cost will be “turnkey” 30900 UAH as of 09.11.2023 (includes two sets of acoustics, consumables, noise and vibration insulation of 4 doors and installation of acoustics).
Step 2
As an intermediate option, you can add a subwoofer. Few people want to install a subwoofer case in the trunk, for such cases there is an optimal solution – an active subwoofer in the spare tire (for example, EMPHASER EBS108A). Does not take up useful space in the trunk and provides good bass sound. The price with installation and consumables is 18,000 UAH (that is, this amount must be added to the price of replacing the speakers in accordance with the first step).
Step 3 (in addition to steps 1 and 2)
Installing a processor amplifier. What is it and what is it for? It is a tool that allows you to create the most correct sound stage in the car. Considering that all the speakers are located at different distances from the listening point, the sound for the driver is localized on the left and in a scatter. With a channel connection, the processor allows you to fine-tune each speaker and compensate for the different distances between the speakers due to time delays.
In Mazda CX-5 it is optimal to use a 6- or 8-channel processor amplifier. 6 channels are used for tweeters, front door woofers and rear doors. And on the 8-channel you can also add a central channel.
Just like the subwoofer, the processor amplifier is installed under the false floor of the trunk, does not take up useful space, is very compact and at the same time provides a huge plus for the sound of the audio system.
Budget for the second stage (equipment, wires, installation, setup):
- if you use a 6-channel amplifier MUSWAY M6 – 37500 UAH,
- if you use the 8-channel amplifier MUSWAY D8 – 43500 UAH,
Let’s sum it up. Each of the steps described above has a right to exist, they can be done one by one, not all at once. But I want to repeat with confidence that the processor amplifier definitely justifies itself and is worth its money. If you really want to get high-quality and bright sound in your car, then our recommendation is a processor audio system (use all three steps described in this article).
