Yes, sometimes it happens – something happens sometimes with a car, where the standard speaker starts to wheeze. Most often, such a speaker is simply replaced with something simple and inexpensive. But sometimes the owners of wheezing speakers decide to fully improve the music in the car. This is what happened with this Toyota Prado 150.

So, the complaint was about a wheezing speaker and the wish was to make the sound louder and better. Think about the quality of modern cars, if the factory acoustics wheeze a couple of years after the car was released.

As you can see in the photo above, we chose a laconic kit to replace the standard wheezing one. At the head is the Musway processor amplifier. And the speakers for the front and rear were chosen from the Focal Integration series. This acoustics is designed specifically to replace the factory speakers, it copes perfectly with all music genres, has excellent characteristics and compact dimensions. One of the advantages of the Focal Integration series is a set of two-component acoustics with midbass speakers in the size of 6×9 inches. This is the factory size of almost all Toyota, and we always recommend choosing this size for these cars.

I won’t tell you much here. We made audio preparation for all four doors, which in the factory version had no audio preparation. It is not needed for the standard poor speakers. But for the processor audio system, noise insulation is vital.

Next we make the first layer – this is vibration insulation made from materials from the Ukrainian manufacturer CTK/Acoustics

Next, we make the second layer of vibration insulation using the same materials. By the way, the thickness of the material is 2 mm. For the door card, we use a noise absorber 15 mm thick.

Acoustics for Toyota Prado 150

In the factory version, the Toyota Prado 150 front acoustics consist of six components. At this stage, we are changing four speakers – midbass and tweeters. Due to the fact that the budget was limited, we decided that we will replace the factory midrange speakers in the future, in the second stage, at the same time, when we add a subwoofer.

We made audio preparation for the front doors so that the midbass works as it should.

The rear acoustics in the rear doors are also installed in regular places using spacer rings. Coaxial 16 cm speakers are enough for rear sound. It is good that there is a processor in the system – with its help we can adjust both the frequency cutoff, and the sound level, and the distance to the speakers to make it non-localized and integrate it into the system harmoniously.

Musway Processor Amplifier for Toyota Prado 150

We chose an eight-channel processor amplifier because we needed to connect eight speakers – that’s how many there are in the standard version. Six speakers in the front (two midbass, two midrange, two tweeters) and two speakers in the rear doors. Since the processor system only makes sense if you connect each speaker channel by channel and have the ability to control each one separately, we chose the Musway D8. At this stage, we used all eight channels, connecting the standard midrange speakers, which will be replaced in the future.

Of course, we must not forget about such important elements of an audio system with an amplifier as copper power wiring and a fuse, which is usually located as close to the battery as possible.

The car started playing differently. There was a stage and good stereo. The next step will be installing a subwoofer and replacing the midrange speakers.
