Replacing the standard radio Honda Civic 5D while maintaining the trip computer settings

Not just sound. Replacing a standard radio is one of the most popular services in our studio. And this is not surprising – each of us has a smartphone, it is logical that in the car we want to have a car radio that supports the functions of our smartphones, just as convenient and modern.

And in many cars, the standard radios are already completely out of date. Buttons, knobs, radio, disks – and that’s it… But what to do if at first glance the question of replacing the standard radio seems scary? In any case, one question scares me – will I lose the factory functions?

For example, in the Honda Civic 5D, an important issue is not just to fit a new radio into the dashboard so that everything looks like a native one, it is also important to preserve control from the buttons on the steering wheel of the on-board computer – setting the clock, date and temperature. We cope with this successfully)

This is how it was in the standard (factory) form:

Then we took apart the dashboard to do some magic for the sake of a future wow-result.

And the wow result turned out to be like this:

What we used in this project:

  1. Car radio CarPlay/AndroidAuto Kenwood DMX5020BTS
  2. Transition frame for Honda Civic 5D CARAV 11-120
