Surround View System for 2008 Mercedes G-Class

A well-groomed, licked, well-groomed and polished to a shine Mercedes G-Class arrived to our studio with two requests:

• Install the most modern car radio on Android
• Install a 360-degree view system

We agreed without any problems and started working. The difficulty of the work was that the transition frame for the car radio for the Mercedes G-Class 2008 is not available in Ukraine. We had to tinker with making one frame for this car from two.

The first thing that needs to be done to be able to display the image from all four cameras in a circle, which we are going to install and connect in the Mercedes G-Class 2008 – is, of course, the presence of a screen. It was impossible to connect anything to the standard (factory) one, which was in this car. The logical solution was to replace the standard radio with a new, modern one, with the ability to connect cameras and the ability to work with the 360-degree all-round view system.

That is, the first step was to install an Android car radio with the CarPlay function. The transition frame was integrated with minor modifications, and in the end we got this result:

How is the installation and connection of the 360-degree all-round view system for the Mercedes G-Class carried out? First of all, four cameras are installed in a circle. Where were the cameras installed in this car? We installed two cameras in the side mirrors.

As you can see in the photo below, we installed the rear view camera on the trunk door. You must admit that this camera looks like a standard one, as if it had always been like that.

As for the front camera, it was also installed quite neatly. You will hardly notice it from the outside. The client was very pleased with our work and the equipment we installed in his car.

In the end, this project took us some time due to the modifications of the transition frame for the new car radio, we were also satisfied.
