Car audio for the 2024 BMW X4 G02
A brand new BMW X4 G02 came to our studio for an upgrade to the factory audio system. Nothing over the top or over the top—the goal was to improve the sound quality, discreetly and affordably, while maintaining the quality of both installation and sound.
As you can see in the photo above, we worked with two automotive electronics brands that develop and manufacture equipment designed for installation in factory locations without any modifications to the interior. All the speakers in this project are from Ground Zero, and the processor amplifier is from Match. This equipment has been proven for years, and has been used by dozens of satisfied customers with their new music in their cars.
The new audio system ultimately includes eight speakers and a processor-based amplifier with channel-by-channel amplification. This configuration is the baseline for upgrading the factory audio system in BMW vehicles. This setup can be expanded both upward and outward. Width can be expanded by choosing higher-end speaker systems, either from the same brand or from other brands. You can also expand the audio system by adding a subwoofer in the trunk. In this case, we limited ourselves to two underseat 20-centimeter subwoofers, which serve more as midbass speakers but still deliver ample low frequencies.
So where can an audio system go next? You can choose higher-end amplifiers and processors, also implementing channel-by-channel amplification, but each speaker will be driven by a specific device. There may even be three or four such devices, or amplifiers, in a system.

But in our case, we limited ourselves to a single unit, which we installed in the left trunk lid of a BMW X4 G02. We traditionally installed it in the factory amplifier’s stock location. As usual, no interior modifications were made to the car’s interior.

What about the speakers? The speakers are also all installed in their original locations, neatly, using spacer rings and treated with anti-squeak elements. What does it look like? We’re installing under-seat midbass speakers (some call them subwoofers) under the seats—the truth is somewhere in the middle. The photo below shows two speakers—the factory one on the right and the Ground Zero on the left.
And in this photo, the GZ midbass speaker is already installed. Once the seat is back in place, there will be no sign of the stock speakers being replaced. Except for the good sound, of course.
As for the midrange speakers and tweeters that we installed in the front doors of the BMW X4 G02, it looks like this:
As you can see, coaxial speakers are installed at the rear, providing a vibrant rear soundstage. The sound level and detail of the rear speakers can be adjusted using the processor.
