Improving the car audio system for the VW Touareg
This is a case where we installed equipment from a client’s previous car, which we also installed. When you come to us for a car audio upgrade, and the equipment is above average, we always say it’s a good investment. And that’s true, because the car can be sold, and the equipment can be used in the new one.
This article is about how we adapted the audio system from another customer’s car. The factory audio system in our 2025 VW Touareg was basic. It’s not surprising that the owner would want to improve something that wasn’t supposed to sound good!
What’s the nuance of this installation? Since the factory audio system is basic, and we planned to add midrange speakers to the front, we ran additional wires for channel-by-channel connection. Space for midrange speakers is provided by the manufacturer. Higher trims come with a higher-end audio system (Dynaudio), which includes a three-way front speaker.
Why abandon the idea of a three-way front end, especially when the VW Touareg owner already has all the speakers? So, everything worked out for the best.
3D modeling for spacers
We’ve recently started offering custom spacers for midbass speakers, tweeters, and midrange speakers. This significantly simplifies and speeds up the car audio installation process. In the photo below, you can see the tweeters already equipped with their custom plastic spacers.
This is the process of installing mid-range speakers using spacers specially made for the VW Touareg on a 3D printer.
The rear door looks like this with the coaxial speaker already installed. This is sufficient for rear audio, considering that the entire audio system will be manually customized at the end to create spaciousness and balance.
This is what the front door of a VW Touareg looks like with the midbass speaker already installed (but without the midrange). Paired with a subwoofer, these midbass speakers can deliver a rich punch and a delicious soundstage.
In addition to installing the audio system, we also installed soundproofing on all four doors of the VW Touareg. This wasn’t for acoustic comfort, but to improve the sound quality of the speakers, especially the midbass.
The subwoofer was removed from a previous car and installed in this 2025 VW Touareg. Compact and quite good.
