Toyota Camry V55 – new speakers, door sound insulation, and a large-screen radio
Toyota is one of the most popular car brands for which owners purchase new equipment to improve comfort, functionality, and convenience. The most popular services we perform at our Toyota car audio studio include:
- Replacing the standard speakers (this could be a simple speaker replacement or a full-fledged processor audio system – it all depends on the owner’s wishes)
- Replacing the factory radio (technology never stands still, everyone wants large screens and user-friendly interfaces, which factory head units can’t boast of, especially in the Toyota Camry V55)
- Soundproofing. Partial (door soundproofing, as required when replacing speakers) or full soundproofing for increased comfort.
In fact, all three options were implemented in our Toyota Camry V55, which, by the way, was driven all the way from Europe to us so we could entrust our car to professionals and leave it in safe hands.
The Toyota Camry V55’s stock speaker locations are sized for 6×9 oval speakers—you can (and we strongly recommend) install oval midbass speakers in the front doors, and tweeters (or ideally, full-range speakers) in the dashboard. The rear speakers use oval coaxial speakers.
This time, we chose a Focal kit: the Focal ISU 690 kit for the front and the Focal ICU 690 kit for the rear. We used ready-made oval spacers for the front speakers and custom-made spacers for the rear shelf. Before installing the speakers, we prepare the doors and rear shelf for audio. We use materials from a Ukrainian manufacturer. Typically, we use three layers: two layers of vibration damping and one layer of sound-absorbing material. Believe me, the quality of the materials and their application are more important than the number of layers!

As you can see, all six new speakers are installed in their original locations using the factory mounting brackets. No modifications or interventions to the car’s interior were required.
The new Android radio with built-in Apple CarPlay has slightly changed the appearance of the Toyota Camry V55’s dashboard, and we’re sure you’ll agree that it’s only for the better.

Here we decided to demonstrate the difference between the factory head unit and the new Android radio with a larger screen. The new radio still uses the factory steering wheel buttons to control it. Clearly, the new head unit is much more advanced than the factory one.
