Subaru Forester 2017 – full noise and vibration insulation

The task was to increase the comfort of the newly purchased car Subaru Forester 2017 and improve the sound in this car. If there is a task, then there is a solution.

The car owner chose Standard class soundproofing, the new audio system was decided to be built in the budget segment, but based on a five-channel amplifier with a front+rear+subwoofer scheme (all components were selected from one brand – Hertz).

So, we started with a completely bare body, almost completely devoid of factory vibration insulation. You can evaluate the factory equipment of the Subaru Forester from these photos:

Bare metal bottom

Bare metal trunk

Bare metal doors

And the most obvious thing is a video that shows the difference between bare factory metal and metal treated with high-quality vibration isolation. How unpleasant it is when your new car is like a tin can in sound…

Now, after completely disassembling the interior of this wonderful crossover, we could get to work. We started with the ceiling and consistently moved on to vibration insulation, and then noise insulation of the doors, bottom, wings, wheel arches, and engine compartment partition. First, we processed the metal surfaces, then worked with the plastic parts. All materials were from the same brand – Shumoff.

Let us remind you that any noise-insulating or vibration-insulating material Shumoff (and not only) can be purchased in our online store caraudio.in.ua (the warehouse of which is located in the same building as our studio).

So, in order. The main vibration-insulating material used in processing the bottom was Shumoff M3. Noise-insulating treatment was performed with Ultimate Soft 6 metallized material.

In the photo we show that we tried to process the bottom as much as possible.

For ceiling treatment we used vibration isolation Shumoff M2. For noise isolation we used Shumoff Germeton A15 (in limited quantities, because in this place everything is quite good from the factory).

Sound insulation is glued over the vibration insulation. The material used   Ultimate Soft 6 metallic.

Access to all technological connectors and openings is preserved.

We also worked on the trunk lid. We used Shumoff M2 vibration insulation and Shumoff Germeton A15 noise insulation.

The doors are covered with vibration insulation Shumoff M2 on the inside and outside. The plastic panel is treated with Shumoff Germeton A15.

The hood is carefully treated with vibration and noise insulation.

We also actively went over the plastic parts, including the front door pillars:
