New audio system for 2023 Audi A6 C8 is much cooler than the standard Bang&Olufson
This new beautiful Audi A6 C8 came to our studio as usual for an upgrade of the standard audio system. The client really likes everything about his new car, except for the car audio. In this case, the car has a basic audio system, which includes only 6 speakers. You may ask why we compare it to “bang” in the title – we will answer right away that we have heard Bang&Olufson in other Audi bodies, it plays only a little better than the basic system.
So, what we proposed for this car. Everything is as usual – speakers in regular places. Looking ahead, I will say that we still used one non-standard place, but more on that later.
The interior of the 2023 Audi A6 C8 looks simply mind-blowing! You definitely don’t want to change anything about such beauty!
The basic audio system in the Audi A6 C8 is a two-component acoustics at the front (tweeters in the dashboard and 18 cm midbass speakers in the doors) and a midbass speaker in the rear doors.
New Car Audio for 2023 Audi A6 C8
The composition of the system is as follows:
- Tweeters – Blam TS 20HR
- A set of Blam LFR 52 wide-range speakers was used as the midrange. Initially, tweeters were not planned in the system and this component was supposed to play the high-frequency range as well.
- Blam LW200P Front Door Woofers
- In the rear doors – Blam L 165C.
- Well, and accordingly, what good system can be without a processor amplifier? Here we used the 8-channel processor amplifier Helix V Eight DSP Mk2.
Following the concept of hidden installation, when all components are installed exclusively in regular places, we chose the Blam LFR 52 broadband speakers for installation in the dashboard instead of regular tweeters for reflection from the glass. This option is always better than just a tweeter in a two-component system. However, at the last moment, the client expressed a desire to install tweeters as well, since we had enough channels on the amplifier. And since the regular place was already occupied, a compromise decision was made to cut them into the mesh overlay. We chose the most compact set of Blam TS 20HR tweeters. It turned out to be very good in appearance.
As usual, we prepared the doors, vibration-insulated the metal of the doors, and treated the door panels with soundproofing material.
Powerful 20 cm Blam LW200P woofers were installed in the front doors via spacer rings, providing excellent punch and good bass. 165 mm coaxial speakers from the same Blam Live line were installed in the rear doors. All connections are channel-by-channel for better system setup and maximum sound quality.
The amplifier was placed in the left niche of the trunk under the trim. A podium was made, securely fixed to the standard mounting points without drilling new holes in the car body.
The subwoofer in the system, as well as the tweeters, appeared at the last moment. Initially, the client did not plan to install it. But in the end, a compromise was made – to install an active Hertz CBA 250 subwoofer. The compact case does not take up much space in the trunk, but at the same time, even in a sedan, it is clearly audible. The convenient layout of the subwoofer, when the speaker looks at the floor, makes it possible to place it in such a way that you can put some things in the trunk on the case – that is, in fact, the useful volume of the trunk was almost completely preserved. If you need to transport a large amount of luggage, you can disconnect one connector and pull out the case.
After the installation was completed, the new audio system was configured. The result was excellent, when the car was handed over to the customer, taking into account his wishes, the final adjustments were made to the configuration. As a result, the new audio system plays much brighter and better quality than the standard premium sound. The implementation period for this project was 4 days.
